MEMORIES

Memorial Day is a day that most of us think of as a time to be with family and friends. We BBQ, swim, listen to music, go to fairs, and maybe indulge in our favorite drink. The holiday was created to memorialize those that gave their lives for us in the name of Freedom and are still doing so today. In their memory, I think of all those who are remembering a loved one they lost and the heart break they felt or are still feeling. As a grief recovery counselor, I have sat with many who have come with a broken heart due to loss. There is no easy way to ease the pain, no magic formula, silver bullet, or one way that is best for everyone. Be easy with yourself if you have a broken heart, allow others to support you, take time to be in nature, get a massage, do something that you love. I hope you have good memories and mementos that will help you feel connected to the one you have lost. Allow yourself time to sit and reflect on your life and those you love. If you have loved ones this might be the time for writing a love letter for them. It will be a gift they will cherish in the future or even now. In the end the one thing that does survive is love. Today may your hearts be filled with healing light and love! Blessings!

The primary purpose for writing and publishing my book was to encourage people to create loving messages for those they will some day leave behind. I personally know the hurt, grief, and void of losing a loved one. The days following the death of someone you love are difficult, however, love letters, information, and other momentos help fill the void.
